Impact of APD Mismatch in Optical Code Division Multiple Access Systems using Perfect Difference Codes

چکیده
Evaluation of error probability based on the assumption that the gains of APDs used in upper and lower branches of optical code-division multiple-access (OCDMA) systems are matched provides an approximation which may in practice be an overestimate or underestimate of the actual probability of error. In this paper, we analyze the impact of APD mismatch in a synchronous OCDMA system based on the perfect difference codes (PDC). The results demonstrate that the performance degradation caused by the mismatch in branches, substantially degrades the bit error rate necessitating the requirement for close matching of the branches.

In this paper, we have compared the performance of a Turbo and Trellis coded optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) system. The comparison of the two codes has been accomplished by employing optical orthogonal codes (OOCs). The Bit Error Rate (BER) performances have been compared by varying the code weights of address codes employed by the system. We have considered the effects of optica...

The optical code division multiple access (optical CDMA) systems is a versatile multiple access technique as compared to time division multiple access (TDMA) and wavelength division multiple access (WDMA). In optical CDMA, the users are assigned unique codes whereas the WDMA and TDMA systems users are assigned different wavelengths or time slots so as to distinguish the data recovered at the re...

Direct-sequence optical code division multiple access technology is one efficient and simple way to reduce the multiple access interferences that existed in visible light communication system due to its ease implementation by simply turning the light-emitting diodes (LEDs) on and off. To overcome the multi-path effect and non-perfect clock impairment, an optical zero correlation zone code set i...
